A glamourous conversion of a Grade II listed property in Knightsbridge. We has a lot of fun with this project – the concept was to blend modern eclectic and 1920’s deco.
The property is a Grade II in ‘Pont Street Dutch’, an architectural style typified by large red brick gabled houses built in the 1880’s. Pevsner described them as “tall sparingly decorated red brick mansions for very wealthy occupants, in the semi-Dutch, semi-Queen Anne manner”.
The projected joined two apartments on the ground and lower floors into a one 5 bedroom apartment. The project formed additional staff quarters, kitchen, hall dining room, home cinema room, spa sauna and steam rooms. We designed a 2m x 3m walk-on glass floor over the bedroom to form a new courtyard garden above.
The palette of materials include exotic stone fittings from India set against classic panel mouldings and period features. A bespoke recessed chandelier creates a beautiful central focus to the entrance foyer. The apartment is fitted with wireless light fittings, TV’s behind a bathroom mirrors and automatic window blinds.
We provided concept design and visualisation, planning and listed building services, drawings, specification, technical design, lead design during construction, completion, interior design fit-out and handover.
