West Park, Harrogate

A proposal for prestigious housing in a town centre conservation area of Harrogate overlooking The Stray, a protected park. The development will replace an existing retail and office building, whilst preserving an existing Georgian building. Le Lay Architects have carefully laid out the site to provide 26 terraced houses ranging in size from one bedroom flats to 4 bedroom grand town houses over looking The Stray. The houses are design to reflect the surrounding buildings of the conservation area and create a distinctive location with revealing views through the development towards the park.

The planning application included a number of supporting documents including: a comprehensive design and access statement, heritage statement, planning policy statement, arboriculturalist report, transport statement, code for sustainable homes energy assessment, and statement of community involvement. In addition to these various proforma and validation criteria were required before submission including agreement on affordable housing provision. Le Lay Architects coordinated all elements of the planning application requirements.
